Investir au Cameroun est un mensuel international à la
réputation aujourd’hui établie qui se veut « une photographie de
l’économie camerounaise », et qui réalise à chacune de ses parutions, un
dossier sur une thématique économique majeure.
En avril dernier, au lendemain de l’entrée fracassante de la pandémie du
COVID au Cameroun, le magazine avait réalisé un dossier qui répondait à la
question : Comment les différents acteurs (Gouvernement, secteur privé,
populations) réagissent-ils à ce phénomène autant inattendu que dévastateur ?
Après avoir pris connaissance du rapport d’impact du COVID19 produit par le
GICAM, et des 19 mesures du Gouvernement pour accompagner l’économie
camerounaise, rendues publiques le 30 avril, le journal s’est donné presqu’un
mois d’observation générale du marché avant de repartir vers les mêmes acteurs
pour évaluer concrètement les premiers impacts.
Ont ainsi été approchés, pour des évaluations sectorielles : le secteur
des oléagineux, celui de l’hôtellerie et de la restauration, celui de
l’événementiel, etc.
Mais il fallait au journal un grand témoin, un acteur qui peut avoir
autorité et balayer de manière panoramique cette situation globale. Le choix a
été porté sur Emmanuel de TAILLY, Directeur Général de la SABC, société dont
l’activité est transversale et irradie plusieurs secteurs en même temps :
production de bière, de jus de fruits et d’eau, mais aussi transport et
logistique, fournisseurs d’intrants, petits et grands distributeurs, débits de
boissons, consommateurs… Autant dire une activité dont le reflet a un impact
sur l’ensemble de l’économie camerounaise.

Business in Cameroon is an international monthly magazine
with an established reputation that aims to be "a picture of the Cameroonian
economy", and which produces a dossier on a major economic theme each time
it is published.
Last April, the day after the smashing entry of the COVID pandemic in
Cameroon, the magazine had produced a dossier that answered the question: How
do the actors (Government, private sector, populations) react to this
unexpected and devastating phenomenon?
After having read the COVID19 impact report produced by GICAM, and the 19
measures of the Government to support the Cameroonian economy, made public on
April 30th, the newspaper gave itself almost a month of general observation of
the market before going back to the same actors to concretely assess the first
impacts.
The following were therefore approached for sectoral assessments: the
oilseeds sector, the hotel and restaurant industry, events, etc.
But the newspaper needed a major witness, an actor who can have authority
and brush in a panoramic way this global situation. Emmanuel de TAILLY,
Managing Director of SABC, was chosen. SABC, a company whose activity is
transversal and radiates several sectors at the same time: production of beer,
fruit juice, and water, but also transport and logistics, input suppliers,
small and major distributors, consumers ... we might as well say, an activity
which has an impact on the entire Cameroonian economy.
