The Pathways to a Career in Arbitration: The Duties and Responsibilities of the Arbitral Secretary

At LACIAC, we recognise the need to bridge the knowledge gap and to help practitioners gain insight into the different roles in arbitration. The training is the first module in our “Pathways to a Career in Arbitration Series”, a series commenced to achieve our goals of assisting young practitioners in building a career in arbitration.

This module will focus on the role of the Arbitral Secretary and is a great opportunity for young and aspiring practitioners to gain practical understanding of the different aspects of a career in arbitration. It will include among other things:

  1. Practical sessions and drafting exercises based on different case scenarios
  2. An introduction to the duties and responsibilities of the arbitral secretary
  3. Tips and guide to help participants kick-start a career in arbitration and to secure appointments as arbitral secretary

The training is relevant to practitioners who are:

  • new to the field of arbitration;
  • yet to experience any arbitration proceedings or wish to gain more experience; and/or
  • interested in learning more about a pathway to building a career in arbitration.
